Social media affects our lives in a lot of different ways. For some, it is thought to be a tool that nuances our lives and the understanding of others lives. On that same note, others think that social media is the reason we are,"relying on digital media to work, play and socialize" (Welles, 1). I personally believe that this statement is very true. It seems that social media is becoming less and less about our friends and trying to catch up on what they're doing, and more about us and how were going to one up our friends. Also, social media has turned into marketing's best friend. I know that every time i go on social media cites, I find myself getting distracted with adds and losing my purpose for going on there in the first place. In fact, "A new BIA/Kelsey report says social media ad revenue will reach $11 billion by 2017" ( Rupert, 1). Social media certainly is a great way to stay connected to those close to you, but it is also a great way to find yourself sad if you let it. Social media is apart of our world and it has the power to positively influence generations or tear them apart.
