Poetry Starters 3/10

The one thing I could never figure out was the universe
Or why it existed
Or why things worked the way they did
But I did know we were small
Smaller than anything I could ever comprehend
And evolved from exploding stars in distant galaxies older than our earth
Our light and mark could not be seen
By anything but us
But who are we

Another door was shut in my face
Another opportunity crumbled by my hands
The feeling was grainy
like sand that slipped through your grasp
that sand was gone
Yet the remnants of that grainy sand stood still in my hands
the foundation remained
The fear sustained
And loneliness attained
