Poem 1) The poem I really liked, What Guys Look For in Girls, by Savannah Brown, was an extremely revealing, yet disappointingly true aspect about the way men see women. This poem talked about how all the flaws men see in women, and how the author herself came to overcome adversity. She preached the ideals of inner beauty and love towards yourself. The poem was very descriptive, and powerful. An example that stood out to me was when she said women didn't need,"Diet pills to slim your kindness down." This poem to me is very important, and almost every guy should watch this and know that what women go brought in our society.
Poem 2) This Second poem titled, The Man, is a perfect example of someone using confusing words to illustrate shallow metaphors that make no sense. There are two poems in this video, but I'm only analyzing the first. This poem is very confusing, and isn't very relevant. The ideas are very poorly connected and confusing, and he uses this technique called bullshitting to make his words seem meaningful. Of course there is a purpose in the poem, but I doubt anyone can find it. He uses man so much you can never tell if he's talking about the oppressive big shot, or the common man. His metaphor at the begining of the poem singlehandedly throws of the poem stating,"I have a problem with the man. Not Thee man, but the man. You know who I'm talking about. But does he know who is talking about him, it's me." Overall, the poem is just not very great, but it's pretty funny the more you watch it.
